A recent survey among members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reveals a surprising trend: about 85% believe society has become far more accepting of tattoos over the last two decades.
While many in the community still choose not to get tattoos themselves, the stigma surrounding them has noticeably declined. Tattoos are increasingly seen as personal choices rather than symbols of moral or cultural defiance.
Younger Generations Lead the Change
Millennials and Gen Z members of conservative groups are driving this acceptance. For them, tattoos often represent:
- personal storytelling,
- meaningful symbols,
- or simply artistic preference.
Their attitudes influence families, workplaces, and social circles, contributing to a wider normalization of body art.
Across Western society, tattoos have become part of mainstream identity. Visible tattoos are more common in corporate settings, and public figures openly display their ink without controversy. This shift reduces judgment and encourages curiosity rather than criticism.

The growing acceptance in historically cautious communities opens new opportunities:
